A Martial Dispatch

Documented by Claudine Boeglin & Sherine Geagea

Despite the rain and the peaceful crowd circling the Lebanese parliament in the mid-afternoon, the response was teargas at 4:44 pm local time. God knows why? The dispatch of militia and military was oversized for the crowd assembled; resisting pouring rain with songs and human warmth to keep the revolution alive. I have now seen from close how rogue governments in denial respond to public calls for action with repressive and gangsta methods. The rhetorical tirade of corrupted nepotism calling people ‘outlaws’ or ‘terrorists’ is itself old news.
